Academic Center Test

CPS’ Academic Centers offer accelerated programs for students in seventh and eighth grade, providing an academically challenging environment and specific resources to develop intellectual, creative, and leadership skills. If you’re interested in CPS Academic Centers, Tiger Tutor can help prepare your child for the challenges of the exam.

Admission to an Academic Center is determined by three factors:

  • 5th grade grades in core school subjects (Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies)

  • 5th grade Spring NWEA/MAP scores for CPS students, or 6th grade fall NWEA/MAP test scores for non-CPS students

  • Academic Center Entrance Exam

Center’s are housed in local high schools across the Chicagoland area:

There are seven Academic Centers across Chicago:

  • Harlan High School (Roseland)

  • Kenwood Academy (Kenwood/Hyde Park)

  • Lane Tech (Roscoe Village)

  • Lindblom Math and Science Academy (West Englewood)

  • Morgan Park High School (Morgan Park)

  • Taft High School (Norwood Park)

  • Whitney M. Young Magnet High School (Near West Side)

Tiger Tutor currently offers private, one-on-one tutoring for the Academic Center Entrance Exam. This exam is a critical part of the admissions process. The Academic Center Exam tests students on their ability to assess figural, quantitative, and verbal relationships. These types of questions are completely new for most students, and our tutors work diligently to make sure your child is developing those skills and is ready for test day.
