Margaret Smith
Program Manager

A current graduate student at the University of Chicago, Margaret has over four years of experience working and building relationships with youth, and she’s worked with children as young as 3 and as old as 17. At Tiger Tutor, her primary role is to monitor and oversee Tiger Tutor’s outreach and communication efforts, curriculum building, and overall strategic planning, budgeting and growth.

Margaret’s work at Tiger Tutor is built on her experience in strategic communications, politics and economic development. In regards to youth, Margaret has overseen and developed academic after school programming for K-8th grade students, young adult mentoring programs, youth leadership programs, and family literacy programming. Prior to joining Tiger Tutor, Margaret lived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where she taught English as a Second Language.

Margaret has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Columbia College Chicago and a TESOL (Teacher’s of English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate.
